David Malki ! on the Importance of Risk and Doing Stuff

David Malki !, the creator behind Wondermark and an editor for Machine of Death and its upcoming sequel, This is How You Die, teamed up with fellow webcomic artist Kris Straub (Chainsawsuit and Broodhollow) along with an entire team of creative folks to create Machine of Death: The Game of Creative Assassination. Maybe you've heard of it ... it raised more than $500K with 10,666 backers on Kickstarter. Pretty impressive when the initial goal was $23K.

The video below is one of the many Kickstarter update videos that David has been shooting to keep folks updated, but it's worth sharing because there's more to it than just an update. David gets in deep about the importance of ideas and risk and just plainly DOING STUFF.

If you want to skip past some of the update info, check in around 1:04. And, though you should watch the video yourselves, here's a nugget of wisdom from David:

"If I have any piece of advice or authority as a guy who somehow raised half a million dollars, it is to say: DO STUFF. Put stuff out there. Not let yourself get wrapped up in what this could be or should be. As long as it's something you feel confident in, and you feel like it's an honest expression of something you feel personally ... that's good enough."
